There has been a construction boom in recent years. Trends affecting housing demand include today’s highly transient society, coupled with high rates of young people graduating college, Millennials starting families, people moving for jobs, divorce, or downsizing, and the massive Baby Boomer population entering their retirement years. These groups all desire new, attractive and well-located housing with modern features and a community feel. Yet there is still a housing shortage, particularly for well-built homes in high-demand areas, which further limits affordability.
